I try to allow for the o's that I say
to trail off into spirals
the ends of a creeping vine
sewing their little captain hook hands
throughout a chainlink
allow them to be
arm in arm with the world

if you ever watch a time lapse
you'll see a vine's reaching

I saw myself rolling the earth
around on my tongue
like an everlasting gobstopper
learning its surface by touch
for the sake of drawing it
then setting it on the edge of the sink
then doing the same for the moon
the moon leaves a dusty white residue

in the corners of my mouth
